Forward Therapy Starts Online Counselling for Lesbians and Gay Men PDF Print E-mail
A new online counselling practice will make it easier for gay men and lesbians to find solutions and overcome problems according to Forward Therapy, a psychotherapy practice now specialising in online counselling.

Online counselling is therapy over the Internet and Forward Therapy is the only specialist Australian online counselling practice geared to the needs of gay and lesbian clients. Forward Therapy offers a choice between email, instant message chat, phone or webcam sessions. Ash Rehn from Forward Therapy says it’s easier and more convenient than attending sessions in person.

“Typing or talking over the net is a state of the art approach to therapy. With online counselling you choose your level of privacy and feel relaxed in the comfort of your own home or office.”

Rehn, a narrative therapist and qualified social worker, started working in the gay community over 20 years ago. He says LGBT people especially appreciate online counselling.

“My clients want to talk with someone who is also gay and has expertise in improving relationships, coming out, dealing with drug and alcohol problems and generally making changes.

“This is a new approach to psychotherapy with extra benefits,” says Rehn. “Instant chat and email provide anonymity and a handy record of the conversation. Webcam sessions are relaxed and more convenient than travelling to a clinic.

“Everyone is different and what works for one person might not work for the next. Forward Therapy offers a choice of professional online services that are comfortable, convenient and confidential. Forward Therapy Online Counselling has been created with the needs of gay men and lesbians at the forefront. For anyone considering counselling or psychotherapy, it’s definitely worth trying.”

Online counselling isn’t a replacement for face to face services and is not suitable for people requiring urgent assistance for domestic violence, sexual assault or where there is a high risk to personal safety.

Appointments can be made by contacting Ash Rehn directly by email.
