Over the past five years, paranormal romance, particularly that between various combinations of humans, werewolves and vampires has propelled the likes of the Twilight series into the stratosphere, spawning many imitators. In truth, the genre has been with us a while, with "Vampire Diaries" running on television from a book series written in the mid-1990's. It is hard to tell what drives this renewed fascination with all things supernatural, but with the conclusion of J.K. Rowling's phenomenal Harry Potter series, a void has been filled by those who place their alter egos in situations of the bump-in-the-night variety. It takes a special individual to give a new voice to this brand of love story. When she first came to Trilogus Books in Spring of 2009, Shonnovan Mitchell was already a talented and prolific author with passion and plots to spare. The daughter of a mustang colonel and eloquent, witty mother who read to she and her sister throughout their childhood, Ms. Mitchell comes by her story-telling gifts naturally. Her initial entry into the world of publication is "Emery", the first book of a proposed series of novels regarding a handsome loner who becomes enamored of a young woman who matches him in spirit, if not in strength and longevity. In the novel, Sixteen year old Abigail Tabitha Avery feels her life has taken a turn for the worse. Her father has just died and her mother has moved the family from sunny Florida to cold and snowy Montana. Tabitha, as she chooses to be called, is miserable, until she meets the student body president of her high school. He is as charming as he is handsome, but on the first day of school, he makes her miserable. However, she finds he has a unique power over her subconscious and she begins to rely on him more than she should. When he nearly kills her, she discovers his secret. He is a vampire. She realizes that his lust for her may be more than even he can resist. She doesn't want to become like him, but how can she refuse, when she learns that the very town she has moved to is a haven for his kind? Author Shonnovan Mitchell grew up in Utah and Texas and graduated from Brigham Young University, UT in April 2005 with a BS in Biology. She has interests in many areas, her three favorite being film, medicine, and writing, all interests she has had since a child. She currently lives in Mesa, AZ and is pursuing her RN license. She hopes to someday become a plastic surgeon and meet the Australian model, Travis Fimmel, the inspiration for Emery.
