Dark Quest Reveals Dark and Dangerous Titles at Philadelphia-Area Convention PDF Print E-mail
Dark Quest Books, in conjunction with Philcon (www.philcon.org), the longest running science fiction convention on the east coast, offers fans a sneak peek at their newest titles: The Halfling's Court: A Bad-A** Faerie Tale, a novel by Danielle Ackley-McPhail, and The Evil Gazebo, penned by Bernie Mojzes. Both books examine the dark and dangerous sides of fantasy. There will be a launch party Saturday, November 21 in the Con Suite of the convention, which is to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

The Halfling's Court, based on stories that originally appeared in award-winning Bad-A** Faeries anthology series, follows Lance Cosain, the leader of a biker gang of humans, halflings, and faeries. Both the anthologies and the novel came out of a desire to take faerie mythology back to its darker roots, when all was not goodness and light, but more mischief and mayhem. These faeries more closely resemble those of the ancient legends still passed down today in many parts of the world that haven't lost touch with magic. The book is complemented by artwork by fantasy artist Linda Saboe, www.croneswood.com. To learn more about award-winning author and editor Danielle Ackley-McPhail visit www.sidhenadaire.com.

The Evil Gazebo is a picture book that would do Edward Gorey and Charles Addams proud in both content and illustrations. It is the seemingly simple story of two sisters, whose life is decidedly black and white, discovering boys, color…and wondering about biting. Already a classic among fans, this book was initially released in hand-bound, numbered and lettered autographed editions, also illustrated by Linda Saboe. Also featured at the launch will be the anthology Dead Souls, of which Mojzes is a contributor. The book recently released in the UK and is published by Morrigan Books, www.morriganbooks.com. Contributor James R. Stratton will also be in attendance.
