Japans biggest budget Feature film Shizumanu Taiyo which features music by Diana Yukawa goes on release.

Shizumanu Taiyo is the famous story by Tokoko Yamasaki. Set in the 1960s based around Hajime Onchi, the chairman of the employees union for a giant national airlines corporation. His reward for fighting for better working conditions for the staff is a series of postings abroad, to Pakistan, Iran and finally to Kenya, a destination to which the company does not even fly.

The cast include’s Ken Watanabe as Hajime Onchi, Koji Ishizaka, Kyoko Suzuki, Yasuko Matsuyuki and Tomokazu Miura. Shizumanu Taiyo is the biggest budget feature film Japan have ever produced.

Diana felt very strongly about being involved in the film having lost her father in the JAL 123 flight which features in the plot “Upon hearing about this movie project a few years ago, I immediately felt very strongly that I would like to participate in some way with the soundtrack so I wrote to Kadokawa directly to express my feelings.” Diana comments. Diana continues “Although I of course understood this movie is fictional, I believe it is very important to continue to educate the younger generations of this aviation accident and to keep the air safety message alive so that history will not repeat itself. Music has a force more powerful than words, and through my music I feel I can connect with my father’s spirit. I never met him as he died in the air accident just one month before I was born. I feel the best way I can honor the victims’ spirits is through my performance, so I am very moved to be involved in this project”.

Diana appeared at the premier on 24th October in Ginza, Japan alongside the cast and crew of the film. She also graced the audience with a performance of “Little Prayer” the track she recorded for Shizumanu Taiyo. “Little Prayer” has also been included in Diana’s album “The Butterfly Effect” which went on sale 21st October in Japan.
