Holidays Come Early for Local Nonprofit JobTrain Thanks to Hewlett-Packard PDF Print E-mail
The Holidays came early by way of Hewlett Packard for the local non-profit JobTrain with their donation of $368,000 worth of computer equipment. Every student workstation in every classroom received brand new computers and even staff had their outdated equipment replaced with new computers from HP.

Todd Bradley, executive vice president of HP's Personal Systems Group and Ronnie Lott, NFL Hall of Famer, will be at JobTrain on Wednesday, October 21st from 8:30-9:30am for a special ceremony honoring the generous contribution. JobTrain will present Todd Bradley with a plaque, recognize HP volunteers for installing the equipment and thank Ronnie Lott for his continuous involvement with the organization.

JobTrain is the premier non-profit training organization serving the Peninsula since 1965 and provides educational support and employment training to approximately 5,000 clients each year. Despite the national unemployment crisis, JobTrain remains effective in both preparing clients and placing them in sustainable jobs. In the first quarter of FY09, JobTrain placed 86% of their graduates in jobs with an average starting wage of $17 per hour. JobTrain focuses on training those who are most in need for career jobs. The training center is located on the East Palo Alto / Menlo Park border.

JobTrain, established in 1965 under the OICW affiliation, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational and training institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. JobTrain also provides career counseling, job placement services and specialized programs for at-risk youth. The organization is committed to eradicating the community's cycle of homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, unemployment, incarceration, low education levels and crime -- all by empowering the individual through education and sustainable employment training. There's no higher premium than recognizing the potential in every JobTrain client.
